Civic Lane

This tiny and almost invisible access way stretches from Worth Place (where trams leave Hunter Street) to the former Civic railway station building, now Newcastle Visitor Information Centre.

Above: Civic Lane at left, alongside the platform of former Civic Station in August 2014.

Its origin was apparently to service the rear of commercial buildings facing Hunter Street, and has progressively gained residential apartments facing, with admirable optimism, Honeysuckle.

In one of the rare occasions where I beat Google street view to it, below are some December 2009 artworks, graffiti, and street ambiance for your perusal. Offered with no further comment, because I know nothing else of Civic Lane.
